How custom lake artwork works

From your lake photo to a finished piece.

Send a few photos of the lake house, dock, boat, shoreline, or view you want remembered. I will help turn the place into custom artwork made to live in your home.

Start with what you have. A phone photo from the water, dock, boat, or shoreline is enough to begin.
Choose the right finish. Custom canvas, framed watercolor, and original oil each serve a different occasion.
Every request is reviewed. If the photo needs a better angle or more context, I will tell you before artwork begins.

The process

A simple path from photos to finished artwork.

The goal is not to copy every pixel. It is to make the place feel considered, recognizable, and ready to live with long after the photo stays buried in a camera roll.

01

Share the view.

Upload 1 to 3 photos of the house, dock, boat, waterline, cove, or view. It does not have to be perfect. What matters is the perspective you remember.

02

Add the story.

Tell me what should matter in the final piece: the season, the porch lights, the boat, the trees, the shoreline, or the feeling of arriving by water.

03

Choose the format.

Canvas keeps the process approachable and ready to hang. Watercolor feels classic and framed. Oil is the slow, heirloom-level commission.

04

Receive the finished piece.

Your artwork is prepared as a complete object, with the final presentation depending on the option you choose.

Before you begin

Use the photos you already have.

You do not need a professional shoot to start. A phone photo from the water, a favorite view from the dock, a boat picture, or a few angles of the house can be enough for me to understand the place.

Helpful
Clear views of the house or boat, waterline, trees, dock, bank, water's edge, and any details that matter to your family.
Also okay
Older snapshots, imperfect lighting, multiple references, or a view that needs explaining. The story can matter as much as the perfect angle.
Not sure?
Send what you have. I will review your photos before artwork begins and tell you if I need anything else.

What changes from photo to artwork

The finished piece should feel like the place, not just the snapshot.

A camera records what happened to be there. Custom artwork can guide the light, quiet the clutter, strengthen the composition, and keep the details that make the place recognizable.

01

Composition is clarified.

The house, dock, waterline, and shoreline can be arranged so the eye knows where to rest.

02

Light is guided.

If the photo feels flat or harsh, the artwork can bring back the warmth, reflection, or calm you remember.

03

Clutter is quieted.

Distracting objects, awkward shadows, or busy edges can be softened so the place feels settled.

04

Meaningful details stay.

The boat, porch, dock, favorite tree, or bend of the shoreline can remain central to the final piece.

Common questions

A few things people ask before sending photos.

If you are choosing between formats, deciding whether your photo is good enough, or planning a gift, these answers should help you move forward with less guesswork.

What if my photo is not perfect?

That is very common. Send the clearest photos you have, plus any notes about the season, light, or feeling. If the image will not work well, I will ask for more context before artwork begins.

Can this be a gift?

Yes. Custom pieces are often created for closing gifts, anniversaries, retirements, housewarmings, family lake houses, and milestone occasions.

Will my home photo stay private?

Yes. Client photos are used to create the artwork and communicate about the order. They are not shared publicly without permission.

Is shipping included?

Shipping is available nationwide. If artwork arrives damaged, send photos of the piece, packaging, and shipping label so a replacement can be arranged.

Next step

Start with the view you keep coming back to.

Send the photos, the story, and the format you are considering. I will help you choose the best direction for the finished artwork.
