Canvas questions

Canvas Print FAQ

What exactly arrives?

A finished, ready-to-hang canvas print stretched over a 1.25" wood frame. It arrives complete, with finished wrapped edges and hanging hardware installed, so you can place it on the wall without ordering a separate frame.

Are they ready to hang?

Yes. Each canvas arrives stretched, finished, and ready for the wall. You may still choose to add an outside frame later if that suits your room, but it is not required.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Most Lakehouse Canvas orders arrive in about 1-2 weeks. Your canvas is made to order, prepared for shipment, and then delivered to your address. You will be notified as the order progresses and will receive a tracking number once the shipping label is created.

Will the colors look too bright or glossy in person?

No, that soft finish matters to me. The matte canvas keeps the artwork calm and natural, without the glare of a shinier surface. Light in your home will always affect how color reads a little, but the overall feeling is meant to stay grounded, quiet, and true to the piece.

The matte finish also photographs beautifully and tends to feel more settled in a room than a glossy canvas.

How is shipping calculated?

Shipping is included in the price of each canvas, so there are no surprise standard shipping charges at checkout. Your piece will be printed, professionally packed, and shipped directly to you.

What if my package arrives damaged?

If your artwork arrives damaged, email studio@lakehouseportraits.com within 5 days of delivery with photos of the artwork, the box or packaging, and the shipping label. Please keep the packaging until the issue is resolved. Once the damage is confirmed, a replacement will be arranged at no additional cost.

How do I choose a size?

Smaller sizes work well on narrow walls, in bedrooms, layered spaces, shelves, hallways, and tucked-away corners. Larger sizes have more presence and are best when you want the piece to anchor a room or carry the feeling from across the space.

If you are unsure, think about how close people will stand to the art. A small piece can feel intimate up close; a larger canvas gives the room more atmosphere.

Do you offer larger sizes?

Yes. If you need a larger size than what is listed, email studio@lakehouseportraits.com with the piece you are considering and the dimensions you have in mind.

Is this your original artwork?

Yes. Every piece starts from my original artwork and is printed on canvas with a soft matte finish. Some pieces begin as traditional studies, some begin through digital painting, and some move between both as I develop the final image. What matters is that the work is created by an artist's hand and eye, shaped by observation, color, composition, and a real relationship with freshwater places.

Nothing in the collection is generic stock art. You can learn more about the artist and the work on the About page.

Is this art only for lakehouses?

No. The collection is inspired by lake life, coves, rivers, wildlife, and reflected water, but it is made for anyone who wants a room to feel calmer, softer, and more connected to the water. It can work beautifully in a lake house, cabin, bedroom, office, living room, entryway, or quiet everyday space.

Do I need to frame it?

No. The canvas is already stretched and finished to stand on its own. The wrapped edges give it a clean, complete look without a separate frame, though you can add a frame later if that better fits your room.

Are these based on real places?

Yes. Some pieces are rooted in specific lakes, rivers, shorelines, coves, and wildlife encounters. Others lean into the quieter feeling of being near the water: reflected color, shade along the bank, flowers at the edge, or the way a room changes when a little waterlight is brought inside.

The whole collection is shaped by real light, real places, and the experience of being there long enough to notice what the water is doing.

Do you offer custom pieces too?

Yes. If you want artwork based on your own lake house, dock, boat, view, cove, or family place, I offer custom work separately from the ready-to-hang Canvas Collection. You can begin on the Custom Lake Art page.
