Where the light feels ‘Just-Right’

Lakehouse Studies

Goldilocks was always one of my favorite stories—not for the storyline, but for that feeling of moving through a place and knowing when something finally fit. I’ve carried that into this collection. I’m always drawn to water, but when there’s a house in the painting, it opens something else—it invites a story, a sense of stepping inside rather than just looking on. These pieces are built from real lakes and real light, but softened and layered into something more dreamlike, less about one exact place and more about a feeling you recognize. They sit somewhere between real and remembered, a little quieter, a little more imagined, and intentionally different from my other work—and that’s what I like about them. —Rachel
