Carolina Wren in the Beech Roots — Appalachian Bird Jigsaw Puzzle

from $22.00
Size:

Carolina Wren in the Beech Roots follows a Carolina wren through the low, tangled life of an Appalachian cove forest. The cinnamon-brown bird perches on exposed beech roots beneath copper leaves, surrounded by smooth pale bark, moss, blue-green ferns, tiny shelf fungi, sandstone chips, and a soft creek glimmer.

Carolina wrens spend much of their time near the ground, turning through leaf litter and probing bark crevices for caterpillars, beetles, crickets, grasshoppers, spiders, and other small prey. The artwork gathers that whole foraging world around the bird, from the twisting roots beneath its feet to the layered woodland growth beyond them.

The vertical composition is especially rewarding in puzzle form. Beech bark, fern fronds, fungi, vine curls, woodland shadows, and reflected creek color create distinct areas to assemble and plenty of details to discover piece by piece.
