Beneath Ancient Leaves - Umbrella Magnolia Appalachian Botanical Giclee Print
from $39.00
Beneath Ancient Leaves began with the feeling of standing under Umbrella Magnolia leaves while summer rain moved through the woods. The flower is there, pale and luminous, but the real subject is shelter: huge leaves overhead, green filtered light, ferns, wet air, and the feeling of being briefly held by something living.
Umbrella Magnolias have always felt magical to me. They come up almost like straight sticks, then suddenly build a canopy out of enormous leaves. In this piece, that canopy becomes architecture: rain shelter, forest roof, and Appalachian understory all at once.
This artwork is part of the Appalachian Botanicals collection, a series of native plant portraits rooted in real encounters with Appalachian habitats, water, light, geology, pollinators, and place.
Color Palette
Layered greens, soft yellow-white magnolia petals, fern shadow, rain-washed light, muted blue-green understory, and warm botanical highlights.
