Hidden Places Along the Water | Laurel River Lake and Daniel Boone National Forest

Some parts of a lake reveal themselves right away. Others have to be found.

Hidden Places is a collection of lake wall art inspired by Laurel River Lake and the surrounding Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky. These ready-to-hang canvas pieces focus on the quieter edges of the water: sandstone ledges, secluded coves, rhododendron-lined banks, rain-darkened inlets, and glowing evening banks.

This is not a collection about wide-open scenic overlooks. It is about the more intimate parts of the lake. The places you notice from the water itself, where reflections deepen, color settles, and the landscape feels held together by stillness.

Laurel River Lake has its own visual character. The rock at the waterline, the cooler shadow tones, the layered greens, and the muted blue-violet reflections all shape the feeling of these pieces. In nearby areas of Daniel Boone National Forest, the same atmosphere continues through enclosed banks, forested coves, and water that feels sheltered and quiet.

As an artist, these are the scenes I come back to most often. They are meaningful to me not only because this is my home lake, but because these hidden places carry so much of what I love about being on the water in Kentucky.

If you’re drawn to peaceful lake art, nature-inspired wall decor, or canvas artwork shaped by real places, Hidden Places is part of a larger body of work rooted in deep observation and time spent on the water.
