Reflected Light in a Real Home | Lake-Inspired Canvas Art in a South Carolina Home

One of my favorite parts of creating art is seeing where it ends up living.

Recently, a collector shared photos of the Reflected Light series installed in her South Carolina home, and I loved seeing the pieces settle naturally into the space. Hung together along the stairway, the paintings carry shifting blues, golds, soft reflections, and quiet water color throughout the home in a way that feels calm and lived with instead of overly formal.

That’s always what I hope for with this work.

This collector wrote:

“We are new to the area and enjoying all views. I love your pieces. I hung them all together in the stairway. I love looking at these every day. I love my collection, thank you. They’re all hung up to admire.”

Notes like this genuinely mean a lot to me because I think carefully about how artwork feels once it becomes part of someone’s everyday life. Not just how it looks in a product photo, but how it catches morning light, softens a hallway, changes the feeling of a room, or quietly becomes part of someone’s daily rhythm at home.

Seeing these paintings installed this way felt especially meaningful because the Reflected Light series was created around those quieter moments on the water anyway — evening color, stillness, reflections moving across the surface, and that feeling right before leaving the lake for the day.

The pieces in this collection are inspired by calm banks, layered reflected light, blue evening water, and the shifting atmosphere that stays with you long after you leave the lake. I’m usually less interested in painting a specific place exactly as it appeared and more interested in holding onto the feeling of being there.

The canvases shown here were professionally printed on gallery-wrapped, ready-to-hang canvas designed for everyday living. While these pieces were chosen to work together as a stairway collection, each painting is also available individually.

Featured pieces in this home include:

Blue-Gold Stillness — Reflected Light
Violet-Gold Break — Reflected Light
Blue Hills with Lilac in the Water — Reflected Light
Olive Light Along the Bank — Reflected Light

If you’re looking for lake-inspired canvas art for a real home, this is honestly the kind of placement I love most — artwork collected slowly, lived with daily, and woven naturally into the feeling of a space. —Rachel
