Blue-Gold Stillness — Reflected Light

from $69.00

There’s a kind of quiet that only happens near mountain lakes, when the ridgelines fade back into blue and the water begins to hold more light than motion. This piece was shaped by that feeling, inspired by lakes like Norris Lake, Lake Cumberland, and others where the shoreline opens wide, and the distant mountains settle into haze.

What stayed with me here was the contrast between depth and openness. The darker shoreline and low bands of shadow give the painting its weight, while the light breaking across the water keeps it lifted and expansive. It has that late-day stillness where everything begins to soften, and the land, sky, and reflection stop feeling separate for a while.

Part of the Reflected Light series, this piece leans into that in-between space where color settles, distance blurs, and the landscape feels less like a specific place and more like something remembered from time spent on the lake.
