How Long Does It Take to Get a Custom Lake House Portrait?

This is one of the first things people ask—and I completely get it.

The short answer is: it depends on how far you want to take the piece, and everything that goes into making sure it arrives exactly the way it should.

For my Signature Portraits, most are ready in about 30 days. Once you place your order, I review your photo and make sure it’s going to translate well. Then I create your portrait, have it professionally printed, select the frame, wait for that to come in, assemble everything, and make sure it’s ready to hang before it ever leaves my hands.

My Enhanced Custom pieces usually take around 6 weeks. This is where I slow down more—refining light, adjusting composition, and working through details so it feels like your place, not just a photo. After that, it goes through the same finishing process: printing, framing, assembly, and careful packaging.

And then there are the original oil paintings, which take about 2–3 months. Those are fully hand-painted by me in layers, with drying time in between. It’s a more involved, hands-on process from start to finish. Once complete, I still handle framing, hardware, and packaging so it arrives ready to hang.

No matter the tier, every piece goes through those final steps—frame selection, assembly, quality check, and secure packaging—before it ships out.

Most people who reach out aren’t in a rush anyway.

This isn’t something you need next week—it’s something you want to live with for years.

And one quick note—if you’re ordering as a gift, I always recommend allowing at least 60 days to receive the finished piece, just to give everything the time it deserves.
